A bird is different from a elephant. So is a octopus from a wolverine. Species tells the difference apart from animals and insects alike, but there are similarities that persists throughout the animal kingdom. Take the eyes for instance. Have you ever seen a person or animal with only one eye? No, every living organism has two or more eyes, four extremities, one mouth, and two ears. You see, every animal on this earth, even though looks and acts differently, has similarities. This is the concept of Telegraphy's “Species” album. Every sound is reminiscent from the previous but is eerily distinctive, just like two or more eyes and so on.

“Species” by Telegraphy, is a slow dub techno, minimal/ambient album. These beat-less tracks, transports us to a world where unknown lifeforms dwell. Unknown but not different from us. All of the tracks titles in this album, your probably wondering, sound kind of strange or desolate, thats because they are names of undiscovered species. No, you won't find then in any scientific journal any time soon. These species are not from this earth, they are names of alien beings. Greys, Reptilians, Mothman, call them what you will. They all have two eyes, two arms, and two feet. Just like us, different but the same. “Species” by Telegraphy, different but the same.

Os dois registos de "Sobre Carris" foram gravados no mesmo dia - um de manhã, outro à tarde - com um telemóvel (SE X8), em mono.
"Eléctrico" conta-nos uma viagem da Graça até à Estrela, em Lisboa, nesse meio de transporte tão pitoresco.
"Entre Estações" contrasta com o registo anterior ao capturar um momento de uma viagem Lisboa - Porto, no conforto (quase estéril) de um comboio inter-cidades.

The two recordings in "Sobre Carris" (on rails) were captured on the same day - one in the morning, one in the afternoon - with a mobile phone (SE X8), in mono.
"Eléctrico" (Tram) tells us of a trip from Graça to Estrela, in Lisbon, in this picturesque transport means.
"Entre Estações" (Between Stations) contrasts with the previous recording by capturing a moment of a trip from Lisbon to Porto, in the (almost sterile) comfort of an inter-city train.

Clouds under the Bridges

A cloud moving "unspectacularly beautiful", surrounding the semicircular, close to the sickle shape, deeply glaring in the moon, pulling layers of purity in a mystical theatre of time traveling, sending the aetherical stream from India across Norway to Istanbul, in the obscure but not dark, but artificial and subtle, "both frightening and beautiful"(GH).

With the album "Clouds under the bridges" we finally accomplish to introduce one of the musicians, who is more known through live music projects. So it doesn't wonder, that most of the tracks released here derive from live recordings. "Winterberg" is the artists Electronic Project. His album introduces Phonocake's new year, starting with the first snow in Dresden here. Again it is a release to lay back and to think back and forth, as it should be also in the fastest of times. Winterbergs frequencies form a soundtrack of introspection, a stream, which carries us and our minds.

Eric Delay, our Fragment in-home pal, produces his new «Four Moments» EP after a long silence he kept for five years. His last performance was also on Fragment, the 12th release of the series.
According to the artist’s words, while working on new material he had to dive into the "disease of the experimenter": deny all the familiar sounds of the standard moves, starting with a blank face, not knowing what to get.
A thing has turned out brief but very intense. Quiet stingy sounds here construct an interesting interaction between the "moments", when it seems that everything is connected and the album is more like some kind of weird "ecosystem." It would be wrong to single out any one of the "moments", as the ideas of each of them find a kind of reflection in remaining ones. But even this may not be so important when it turns out that you are simply listening to the touching and heartfelt music.

Our sixth album of deep and mysterious longform ambient music.
A continuous, 50 minute piece split into six parts.
Though slowly evovling and spacious, this is probably the brightest sounding so far.
Play it quietly in the background or put on your headphones and emerse yourself in the music.

The music is generative:
each note is played in a long loop, the length of each loop if different for each note, so although the music may seem to vary only slightly, it never quite repeats itself.

Again, the songs titles are named after Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs) - small planetoids and other objects in our solar system whose orbits are on average greater than that of Neptune.
These objects are in turn named after characters from Greek and Pacific island mythology.

It was a time not unlike now. A time where darkness and corruption reigned. The situation looked dire. Justice was required. Then during the dark of night a Hero was born. As time passed the Hero wandered into the wilderness alone. On his journey he came to know who he was and where he was to go, and that he was in fact not alone, for his Father's guiding spirit was always with him.

The Hero, now a man, found his way to a dusty town, a town called Hopefound. Here the darkness had corrupted the streets and blinded the hearts of women and men. Where there once was virtue and righteousness, now there was only perversion and tyranny that covered the town in its thick dark veil. The Light that first set life into motion and brought reality into sight was nowhere being sought. But now as our Hero's searching light lit up the dark streets it was made known that there was a new sheriff in town. The Hero donned his star-shaped badge and set forth to free the darkened souls who once knew the joy and truth of the Light. Everyone was in need of his saving grace, the good, the bad and the ugly. They were being released from the bonds of their self-destructive ways, their selfish deeds and the lies of the Enemy. Yes even those poor souls were being recued who thought too highly of themselves and those who had been left outside with no hope, forsaken by the rest of them. They were getting their true identity back.

The next day came as the Hero approached the town center. As he stopped for a moment's rest he was beset by the Corrupt Major's hired gang of bandits, thugs and thiefs, encircled from every side. The sun now sat at highnoon. A showdown was about to take place, a showdown that would decide everyone's fate. The bandits had taken hostage all those poor souls who were out there in the streets, holding up before the Hero their past offences and evil deeds. The Major reckoned to the Righteous Judge, who had also appeared among them, that they were to be his, as their vile deeds where not much different from the very likes of his. The Judge considered his plea but said that it was high time that the records be set straight and that the Mayor's own time would also soon come. The Hero called out for a ransom to be given, to pay the debt for the peoples' due retribution. The Judge then reckoned that only good could right this evil for Justice required that the balance between right and wrong be equal. It was said, the Hero's life in exchange for those who were held captive so that his righteousness might clear their name.

The Hero took the call and laid down his life for all, for he knew who they were and were they were to go, yes even those who had forsaken him. Man cannot live on Bread alone...but apparently Rum & Bacon is OK...

...according to Micky Strirrups anyway who uses Rum & Bacon as a staple. From a nutritional standpoint it’s debatable whether this is an advisable diet for many people but, it would seem, Micky is not just anyone...or at least we can have an educated guess that this is the case.

VKRS have been keeping a close eye on Micky for a while, we’ve noticed he was Sonrisa FM Top of the Week (with his track Bad Robot), we were enticed by the YouTube video of Flashback (pre-dating this release) and a plethora of commentary on his work via Social Media and music sites VKRS frequents. But, of Micky, we know nearly nothing. It seems, despite our best and most persistent efforts, this is set to continue.

What do we know about Micky then? We guess he’s probably from middle England (through some heavy internet stalking), he seems like a jolly nice fellow from email conversations (he only communicates through a traceless gmail address) and we know for sure his logo is that of a well-dressed, dapper kind of chap with...well...no face. And this is exactly what Micky wants, it’s his mystique, his mojo if you will. This rather leaves us, then, with the music and, we are forced to suspect, this is also precisely what Micky wants.

Let’s take track two of this release first then instead. When Musica opens it kind of leaves us wondering what’s going to come next...like it’s author it kicks off as a tune without a face...it could go anywhere...but then the beats begin. A deep throb of hypnotic rhythm that has you waiting eagerly for the next layer of paint... crisp production. yes, but with some wonderfully understated sub that’s almost, but not quite, verging on dub. Definitely the more downtempo of the two tracks it still has an engaging after-party beat that would have you tapping your feet and longing for a time earlier in the evening when you were sweating and throwing your arms around your mates in joyous bonhomie!

If Musica was the after-party then Flashback is the main event. This is intelligent Dubstep at it’s finest...some wobble-type bass that, in our arrogant opinion (and avoiding acronyms) does what so much dubstep fails to do...and that is to make any kind of attempt at fitting in with the song itself. The beat is once again Micky’s chief selling point...cleverly inter-woven drumstepesque beats that act as part of a team rather than 11 individuals all trying to shoot for goal at once. In terms of melody it’s all in the middle and bass but the use of some delayed bells at the top end give the track a little of bit of extra richness and texture that really lift it out of the seething mass of, well...dross, that so frequently emerges from the world of Dubstep.

We just love this release and we know you’re going to as well. And if anyone finds anything more out about Micky that we’ve been unable to (like anything...anything at all)...let us know...we’re kind of curious.

It is the third publication of the german techno producer and label co-founder B. Strehm under the project name "Funke7". His latest work, "Days Of Orange Sunshine EP" convinces not only by the high quality, it is especially the abstract fantasy worlds paired with minimalistic techno aesthetics, that merge into a unique synthetic soundscape, including dance floor potential.

A very special treat are the two remixes, created by the collaboration with our friend and colleague, the swiss DJ and producer, "THE WEB". Like no other, it sees the tracks his personal unique touch to breathe, so that even the smallest lizard suddenly mutates into a monstrous fire breathing dragon. Another highlight is the participation of the Australian songwriter and singer "CXXXVI". When it comes, to writing strange lyrics and refine electronic music with a fabulous voice, so they have already involved a great number. And precisely these strengths, not least the artistic talent of the duo and their joint project "THE WEB & CXXXVI" reflects the exclusive for this release produced music video.

O músico electrónico cazaque, Vadim Ehrlich (aka Ganzha), a viver na Alemanha desde 2004, construiu em 1980 o seu primeiro sintetizador analógico (uma tarefa difícil na antiga URSS!), moldando a sua ideia de "pintura sonora".
No início, qual DJ pioneiro, ele combinou as suas construções musicais com efeitos luminosos nas suas actuações em discotecas.
Por fim, ele inventou o seu próprio estilo de música electrónica "ao vivo" chamado "quazy construções musicais", também conhecido por "absurdismo". A ideia principal era - tocar todos os seus instrumentos em tempo real e sem padrões pré-gravados.
Todas as suas "caixas de música" (2 VCO, VCF, ADSR, VCA) estão ritmicamente sincronizadas por um gerador de impulsos principal, enquanto o "performer" controla todos os parâmetros manualmente.

Gravado ao vivo em fita magnética para a rádio Vombat.com e convertido para formato digital a 24/96.

Kazakh electronic Musician, Vadim Ehrlich (Ganzha) lives in Germany since 2004.
In 1980 he assembled his first analog synthesizer (a hard task in former USSR!), shaping up his idea of "sound painting".
At first, as a pioneer DJ, he combined his music constructions with light effects in his disco performances.
Finally he invented his own "in live" electronic music style called "quazy musical constructions" aka "absurdism". The main idea was to play all his instruments in real time without pre-recorded patterns.
All his music boxes (small 2 VCO,VCF,ADSR,VCA) are rhythmically synchronized by a main trigger generator whilst the performer controls all parameters manually.

Recorded live to tape for stream radio Vombat.com and converted to 24/96 digital format.

And December ends with another new release by Saito Koji.

His follow-up to the earlier released album "Music" is called "Guide". The eight tracks are 3 minutes long, the classical radio hit length. The music is very dense. Starting with very distorted, thick and layered sounds shifting to a clear and calmer atmosphere in the end. All pieces are rather short in the field of ambient or drone music but Saito filled the pieces with an enormous richness and concentration. Overtones are swirling around in your head, layer over layer of crackling noise is added to a this warm blanket of sounds.

Have a nice start in 2012 and farewell to a wonderfull 2011.

PublicSpaces Lab first release presents the work of the Spanish/Portuguese duo “Torsion”

The project, that first started as an escape zone for the two musicians, turned to have a mind of its own and after some of their themes were published in such compilations as the ones published by Head Candy, they both started to take Torsion as a side project with a future.

January 2007 sees the two producers working together via the internet in order to make this new release.

The result is a EP that shows all the chill out potential of this duo starting with the theme “Sun drops on the Ocean” a theme set to make it to chill out bars and rooms this summer and ending with a long ambiental theme “14 Longest Days in History” while experimenting on themes like “LkLzDmLkL” and the surprising “Raindrops on the Sun” that includes vocals, something rare for this duo.

All in all “Raindrops” shows the flexibility of this two young producers but also the search for a specific sound that does not end in music styles or boundaries. The inclusion of a 4/4 electro beat at the end of “J’Aime” is an example of it, changing the downtempo of the track into something that will probably be remixed by some other artists more oriented to the dance floor, in the near future.

3 years ago Rawmatroid was born, as a free and independent project, that connects the culture of a group of artists bounded by the music industry with the rest of the world. During this time we have published 12 references in Rawmatroid Club and 3 in Class thanks to the collective work of many people. In Rawmatroid Netlabel we are proud to continue our philosophy and to have the cooperation of producers, designers, webs, visual artists and, of course, all of you that in one way or another support this project: once again, thank you!!

To celebrate our third anniversary, we decided to go a step further and connect artists with each other. We asked all producers that had worked with us in this 3 years to make a list with their favorites tracks from all the references that we had release and we propouse to their authors to make a sample pack with the “ingredients” they had use to produce their tracks. We got in touch again with all of our artists who wanted to colaborate and asked them to chose the songs he wanted and “cooked” his way. A challenge for expression and creativity to join through sound different ways of thinking.

Today we are proud to see materialized in this compilation the enthusiasm and passion that all of us who form Rawmatroid feel for the music. Rawmatroid Buffet Service is a gift from some artists to other artists, but everyone can enjoy for free, as always. Bon Appetit

Stille Zeit, Deep Silence! Nicht besser konnte man dieses Release platzieren. Vielleicht ist sie nicht Familienfeiertauglich, aber um im Schaukelstuhl zu sitzen und gute entspannente Musik zu hören ist die Feiertagszeit wohl kaum besser geeignet.
Also lasst euch fallen und Träumt.

Quiet time, Deep Silence! the release could not be better placed. Perhaps it is not suitable for family celebrations. But to sit in the rocking chair and listening to relax music is the holiday season probably much better suited.
So let yourself fall and dreaming.
